Cowbell is unlike any other self-watering product you've used before!

Cowbell's pressure-regulated reservoir and lid valve keeps water suspended in a precise vacuum which means water doesn't drip by itself.

Plant roots and soil draw water from Cowbell only as needed using natural biology and physics processes like root pressure, capillary action, cohesion tension and water diffusion.

Once the pressure inside the reservoir reaches a certain threshold, the lid valve automatically equalizes the pressure. This means your plant roots never have to work too hard to draw water from the reservoir, while also preventing Cowbell from dripping unnecessary water into your plant.

Cowbell Classic:

We recommend a container with at least 5 inches (12.5 cm) of soil height for stability.

• One 750mL Cowbell will last at least 2 weeks for most pre-watered houseplants in 1-2 gallon (6"-8" diameter) containers.
• Two 750mL Cowbells will last over 2 weeks for most pre-watered houseplants in 2-4 gallon (9"-11" diameter) containers.

Cowbell Mini:

We recommend a container with at least 3 inches (7.6 cm) of soil height for stability.

• One 250mL Cowbell will last at ~2 weeks for most pre-watered houseplants in 3"-5" diameter containers.
• Use multiple Cowbells in larger containers.

Set up your Cowbell in minutes!

• Water your plant well before use for the longest-lasting results. Don't worry about overwatering, Cowbell will wait until your plant has used up the water in the soil before drinking from Cowbell.
• Twist and tighten the spike onto reservoir
• Bury the spike into damp soil
• Fill your reservoir with clean water.
• Let spike saturate for a few minutes with the lid off
• Top up any drained water and seal with lid
• Refill every 2 weeks.

Cowbell does not need to be cleaned regularly. But if you'd like for it to look pristine, it is easy to clean!

If you use Cowbell outdoors or in direct sun, or if you fill your Cowbell with rainwater, you may find some natural algae growth in the reservoir after a few months.

We recommend twisting off the spike and handwashing the reservoir with soap and water.

We don't recommend putting the lid or reservoir in the dishwasher as it may cause some warping at extremely high temperatures. 

The spike and cone are dishwasher safe but you can also rinse it by hand or clean it with a scrub brush if you find that anything has plugged the ceramic cone.
